The traditional dense surface of swimwear fabric is being given textured illusions to emulate the
intimate apparel trend of surface expression. Prints are still creating waves as featured with the
emphasis on new exaggerated florals and graphics with added textures, either through application during
the fabric production or garment production. Prints are enhanced with flocking and gum
prints to add subtle decorative texture while fancy piqué and cloqué create a three-dimensional blistered
effect and surfaces of sueded polyamide/nylon with creora® create a subtle touch. Additional surface
details are achieved through manipulation of swimwear fabrics through ruching and ruffles. Fine
cotton jersey and diaphanous chiffon work well as printed coordinating beachwear as well as stretch
lightweight micro fiber woven fabrics for shorts.
